2009 Ground Water Summit

Sunset in Tucson, Arizona. Save the date for the 2009 Ground Water Summit—The Science Conference: Adapting to Increasing Demands in a Changing Climate, which will take place April 19-23 in Tucson, Arizona!

The 2009 event will be the fifth year for this conference, which is designed to help push the boundaries of applied ground water science by bringing together international leaders in ground water consulting, research, and public service. The conference is structured to foster open discussion of current topics in applied ground water science. It is international in breadth with a distinct element of local flavor.

 

Summit participants devise the session topics, keeping the program topical, focused, and dynamic. Program highlights include a keynote presentation, the NGWREF Darcy lecturer, the GSA Birdsall-Dreiss lecturer, and a plenary session panel discussion featuring a current and significant topic in ground water science.

 

The Ground Water Summit offers the opportunity to learn and stay current, present your latest ground water endeavors, and renew existing professional relationships, as well as start new ones.

Call for proposals for sessions, short courses, and field trips

Proposals for session topics, short courses, and field trips are due by 11:59 p.m. ET, July 7, 2008. Accepted session topics will be posted in mid-August 2008, at which time a call for abstracts will be issued, Abstracts will be due October 3, 2008.

 

Some suggested session topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Transboundary issues
  • Colorado River
  • City water vs. rural water conflict
  • Impacts of climate change on ground water resources
  • Sustainability
  • Yucca Mountain
  • Data visualization and GIS.
