NGWA depends on volunteer committees to aid the Association in achieving its goals. It has determined that committees should be purposeful, provide policy direction in moving NGWA forward, offer advise to the NGWA Board of Directors, be selective in appointing its members, and be in conjunction with the overall strategies of the Association.
NGWA looks for volunteer committee members to possess expertise relevant to the committee's purpose, have a willingness to further NGWA's goals, a commitment to time required to make NGWA a priority, and attend scheduled meetings and programs with which the committee is involved.
Committee members are appointed by the NGWA president. He reviews and approves each slot carefully and matches the needs of the committee with the most experienced person.
Committee years run from each annual NGWA Ground Water Expo to the next. Terms are three years in duraction, and members may serve two consecutive terms. Committee chairs serve a one-year term, but may be elected to a second term.
NGWA forms task forces from time to time when pertinent issues arise. These groups function for a period of time relative to their subject. NGWA also has interest group committees that function under interest group guidelines.
