NGWA Past President Peter Thein passed away on January 10. He was 85.
Thein, who led NGWA in 1993, was a Ross L. Oliver Award recipient in 1994 — the most prestigious award given by NGWA. He was also given an NGWA Life Member Award in 2000. Thein earned NGWA’s top certification — the Master Groundwater Contractor (MGWC) designation as well in his professional career.
With his brothers Stanley and Dennis, Thein ran Thein Well Inc., a fifth-generation water well drilling company in Spicer, Minnesota, for more than 50 years. Thein served as president of the Minnesota Water Well Association in 1974 and 1975 and was a Trustee of the American Groundwater Trust.
