The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) is excited to announce Kenneth R.
Bradbury, Ph.D., as the new editor-in-chief of its flagship research publication, Groundwater. In publication since 1963, Groundwater is the leading international journal focused exclusively on groundwater.
A leading hydrogeologist in the field, Bradbury served in the position of Wisconsin state geologist and director of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey.
“I’m honored to be named the new editor-in-chief for Groundwater,” said Bradbury. “Groundwater continues to prove itself as an indispensable resource in our field and I’m excited to work alongside our talented team to keep publishing meaningful and impactful research.”
Bradbury, who has more than 40 years of experience working in the groundwater industry, has researched and published on various elements of groundwater science. His research has included investigations of virus transport in groundwater, groundwater flow in fractured rocks, aquitard hydrogeology, groundwater recharge processes, wellhead protection, regional groundwater simulation, and the hydrogeology of glacial deposits.
In his free time, Bradbury enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and cross-country skiing. He and his wife Kari enjoy rural living south of Madison, Wisconsin.
In 2023, Bradbury received the inaugural Schwartz Award for Excellence in Mentoring and Education from the Geological Society of America.
