Groundwater Editor earns honor from Wisconsin Academy

March 13, 2024

Groundwater Editor-in-Chief Kenneth R. Bradbury, Ph.D., was awarded a 2024 Fellows bradburyAward from the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters on March 8.

The honor is given annually to those from Wisconsin who demonstrate a lifelong commitment to intellectual discourse and public service.

Since 1982, the Wisconsin Academy Fellows Award has recognized educators, researchers, mentors, artists, and civic or business leaders from across the state who have made substantial contributions to the cultural life and welfare of our state and its people. It is the highest recognition conferred by the Wisconsin Academy.

Bradbury is one of 16 individuals in the 2024 class. He began as the Groundwater editor-in-chief on January 1 this year. He is a research hydrogeologist who formerly served in the position of Wisconsin State Geologist and Director of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey.

A long-time NGWA member, he was with the Survey and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension for 40 years. He is a Fellow in the Geological Society of America and an honorary member of the Association of American State Geologists.

“The Academy Fellows award honors Wisconsin citizens who through their creativity, their scholarship, and their commitment to the state have enriched all of our lives,” said Robert Mathieu, Wisconsin Academy fellows committee chair. “By recognizing their contributions to Wisconsin and the world beyond, we seek to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”
