Water Well Wish program is featured in Ohio farm magazine

March 20, 2024

The Groundwater Foundation’s Water Well Wish program was featured in a recent issue of Farm and Dairy, a newspaper serving the rural communities of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The newspaper, which is more than 100 years old, has sections featuring agricultural news, auctions, classifieds, and antique equipment. Earlier this month, it had a feature story titled “Finding Help When the Well Runs Dry.” The article told the story of the Sensenbaugher family, which lives in Blacklick, Ohio, and got a new well through Water Well Wish.

A new well would cost $11,000 and unfortunately the Sensenbaughers didn’t qualify for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development’s loan program for wells for rural residents.

That is when Water Well Wish stepped in. A well was drilled last Veteran’s Day weekend, a fact made more meaningful because John Sensenbaugher is a U.S. Marine veteran who completed back-to-back tours in Afghanistan in 2011 and 2012.

Water Well Journal’s January 2024 issue highlighted the Sensenbaughers and five other jobs completed through Water Well Wish in a feature story titled “Wishes Granted.”
